Welcome to episode 40 of Sweetman Podcast brought to you by Phantom Billstickers. A chat with Auckland-based musician/producer/soundtrack composer Sean James Donnelly – better known, in band and solo-musician guise as SJD.
I’d met Sean, briefly. And have had a couple of long phone interviews with him as well as a bit of social media banter but for this podcast he invited me to his home and we sat in his basement studio and talked through all of his albums, and related projects (Neil Finn’s Pajama Club album, early live work with Don McGlashan, the aborted Bellbirds album) including a recent turn towards soundtrack composing. We also talk about happiness and mental health. It’s a deep chat and I really enjoyed my time with Sean. I hope you’ll enjoy this conversation also.
