This episode features a chat with Roger Shepherd, the guy that started Flying Nun Records, the guy who has written the fantastic memoir, In Love With These Times – My Life With Flying Nun Records.
Roger and I talked writing, book-writing specifically – what it takes, what it takes out of
you, how it works, when you know it’s working (if you know) and we talked about the little label that could – and did (and still is…) We talked about some of the key figures (David Kilgour and Chris Knox and Doug Hood) and we talked about Roger’s battle with mental
illness. We talked about the history of the Dunedin Sound and the music that Flying Nun nurtured and distributed and Roger’s life in the shadows of those sounds.
