Here’s Episode 19 of Sweetman Podcast – my chat with Tami Neilson. I caught up with Tami the morning after she played a terrific gig, accompanied by her phenomenal band. And so we talked about that – and about her time in New Zealand, the progression across the albums.
So to get to that we had to discuss her background – a child star, part of a family band in Canada. She moved to New Zealand for love and had to start over, she’s started a family here and a career.
I really enjoyed this one – I know I always say that, I’ve been very lucky so far – this was my first time meeting Tami Neilson, and it was the best conversation I’ve ever had with someone who has an album out that I’ve negatively reviewed.
Of course she’s more than made up for that (and maybe I have too?) At any rate this conversation persuaded me to revisit that earlier material, some of which you’ll hear in snippets, along with some of the more recent songs, throughout this episode.
You’ve found this podcast via the link on Facebook or Twitter and/or from the Off The Tracks website – it’s hosted at Soundcloud and to receive the episodes before you even get to these show notes you can subscribe on iTunes. Day-time visitors to the den get to have coffee thanks to L’affare or, later in the day, they can have a beer from the wonderful Yeastie Boys. My thanks as always to these great sponsors.
