Sweetman Podcast: Episode 164 – Heather O’Carroll

Welcome to episode 164 of Sweetman Podcast with support from our sponsors – T Leaf T, Yeastie Boys and La Petite Chocolat.

Now – as you probably know, as well as the usual platforms (this site, soundcloud, iTunes/Apple) you can now get to Sweetman Podcast on Spotify– follow it there and have it saved in your Spotify library.

This was recorded just last week. We rushed this one through – and I’m glad it got to happen – a chat with actor Heather O’Carroll.

I’d wanted to talk to Heather – for many reasons, chief among them being that she was in one of the most incredible plays I’ve ever seen. And so we got to talk about that. Finally. Also, I didn’t know her but I felt like I did – we were at university at the same time and have a few mutual friends.

But what finally got us together for this chat was the director of the play MOODPORN getting us together. So, yes, this is a plug for that – the season is at BATS Theatre from 23 April to 4 May but we talk about all sorts of other things. All things theatre, film, acting…

Well, actually, Heather has a long history with BATS – she ran the joint most recently, but she also worked there as an actor going back as far as some 20 years go.

We also talked a bit about Mel Lynskey – one of NZ’s great acting exports. A friend of Heather’s.

We also talked a bit about Neil LaBute – one of my favourite writers – and a playwright of some repute; MOODPORN has been compared with LaBute’s work.

This was a great conversation – I’m glad it got to happen. We recorded this just last Saturday morning. And so here it is now…

I hope you dig it. And Happy Easter!

Here now is episode 164 of Sweetman Podcast, my conversation with Heather O’Carroll.
