Sweetman Podcast: Episode 16 – Dave Dobbyn

hhhhhddddddSome big news for Episode 16 of Sweetman Podcast – first of all it’s a two-hour chat with Dave Dobbyn. We’re talking about his brand new album, Harmony House – you can even hear some snippets from the album ahead of its release at the end of this week. But of course we talk about his whole career – he has some revelations around earlier material and talks candidly about mental illness, depression and suffering crises of confidence.

We talk politics, we talk The Phoenix Foundation – harmonyhoueSam and Luke from the band produced Dobbyn’s new record. We talk about live shows with Don McGlashan and sharing the stage with Neil Finn and Ron Sexsmith. And we talk
about that pesky “National Treasure” label.

I’ve met Dave before – and talked to him at length for my book, On Song. I’ve also done a phoner with him, he’s always been a generous interviewee. But even with some sort of expectation based on previous interactions I was thrilled with this conversation and with his generosity.

In other podcast news – we’re still on Soundcloud but YeastieBoys 2014Logo - Xeroyou can now also subscribe and access the podcast via iTunes. And we have our first sponsors. My thanks to Yeastie Boys and L’affare for providinglaffare2-240x240 the beverages to help interviewer and interviewee through these conversations.

I hope you like episode 16 of Sweetman Podcast, my talk with Dave Dobbyn.
