Sweetman Podcast: Episode 156 – Mike Weston

Welcome to episode 156 of Sweetman Podcast with support from our sponsors – T Leaf T, Yeastie Boys and La Petite Chocolat.

Now – as you probably know, as well as the usual platforms (this site, soundcloud, iTunes/Apple) you can now get to Sweetman Podcast on Spotify– follow it there and have it saved in your Spotify library.

Here I had a chat with Mike Weston – it might almost be easier to say what Mike isn’t rather than what he is, given he is or has been a musician, DJ, artist, manager, multi-disciplinary artist and many more besides…

He is one half of the collaborative creative entity, Weston Frizzell and runs the creative space, The Area. He has been a curator, gallery owner, installer and instigator in and around the art and music scenes of New Zealand across the last four decades.

He has a background in skating, punk, street art and more besides…

I met Mike for the first time a couple of days before recording this conversation. It’s a wide-ranging ramble through his past with a look to the future.

We acknowledge that, a couple of years ago Mike had a similar chat with Lewis Tennant for his Dr. Tennant’s Verbal Highs podcast – we tried to not go over the same ground too often. And by all means click that link to check out Lewis’ podcast if you missed it at the time.

I loved meeting Mike and Otis Frizzell (subject of a separate, future podcast, fingers crossed…)
And I really enjoyed our conversations – including this one, which we got down on tape.

I hope you enjoy this too. Here now is episode 156 of Sweetman Podcast, my conversation with Mike Weston.
