I’m guessing I met Chris Wilson at a gig somewhere at some time; we’ve seen each other at loads of shows over the years. I’m also guessing here, but I’m sure I’d heard his band Gold Medal Famous before I met him.
At any rate, it was definitely time to talk to Chris for the podcast as we would bump into each other in the streets of Wellington and talk about music and film and books and all of the things that motivate a lot of us.
So this conversation was actually recorded a few months ago – and is here now for you to hear. Last year I spoke with Vorn Colgan who is also a member of Gold Medal Famous – so if you missed that episode and want to check it out, well, there it is…
Chris and I talk about his journey through school and into music as, first, a listener and then as a performer. We talk about the impact of people and small towns in New Zealand, and get into some conversations around social issues and politics. As well as a chat about film and movie soundtracks.
It’s a big, deep ramble. One that I thoroughly enjoyed.
I hope you do too.
