Welcome to episode 106 of Sweetman Podcast with support from our sponsors – T Leaf T, Yeastie Boys and Le Petite Chocolat.
I nabbed a wee chat with Andrew Fagan – he of the Mockers and of course his own career, poetry, songs, a life on the seas – a stint as a radio programmer and DJ, first as a Kiwi FM breakfast co-host (with wife Karen Hay) and then in talkback.
We stole this conversation in a hotel foyer shortly before a soundcheck. Andrew would go on to deliver a superb performance that night, just last week as part of the Mockers, the whole band terrific. They were in town to promote their brand new CD/DVD from last year’s reunion tour.
And though Fagan doesn’t think there’ll be new Mockers music there is plenty of new music to come from him with his other band, Fagan & The People.
There’s a bit of background noise at the start of this podcast (it does calm down). But I was so grateful to chat again with Mr. Fagan. We’ve enjoyed a few radio interviews (him talking to me) and phoners (me talking to him) down the years. And we’ve met once or twice previously. One time I DJ’d as the opener and closer to one of his solo sets.
This was a great career/life overview chat. Very candid and honest. And I appreciated the gesture, making time to chat right ahead of a show in his old home town.
I dug this a lot. And I hope you do too.
Please enjoy episode 106 of Sweetman Podcast, my conversation with Andrew Fagan.
