Welcome to the first episode of Sweetman Podcast. In this first time out for me doing the podcast I spoke to Darren Watson. We talked about his upcoming tour, and his background; his life. We went through his time with Smoke Shop and on through his handful of solo albums, talked the influence of B.B. King and other blues greats, frustrations with blues and particularly “blues-rock” as genre-tags and he had a lot of interesting things to say around teaching music, songwriting and performing.
I’ve known Darren for a few years now, always enjoy his music and his opinions. And when we came to cut this down, to edit it back to 30 or 40 minutes we found there was just too much good stuff here. Well, why not be indulgent first up – so it’s 100 minutes, counting the song that Darren plays us out with.
You are free of course to listen to the whole thing as much as you want or to just grab it in bites.
But I enjoyed this conversation. And I think Darren is certainly worth listening to.
Keen to see what you think and open to feedback around future ideas/subjects for the podcast.
But first up it’s Darren Watson. Very much the real deal. I hope you enjoy it.
