Now – as you probably know, as well as the usual platforms (this site, soundcloud, iTunes/Apple) you can get to Sweetman Podcast on Spotify – follow it there and have it saved in your Spotify library. It’s on most of the podcast platforms besides the ones mentioned here.
This week I spoke with Steve Braunias – journalist and writer. He has published some 11 books and the latest is Missing Persons. A worthwhile read – I loved it. I’ve been a fan of Steve’s work for many years and have read most of his books. I’ve been keen to have him on the podcast since I started it – I’ve reached out a couple of times but it hasn’t lined up.
Finally it did.
Steve was in Wellington recently to do a bookstore chat (at Unity) about Missing Persons. Straight after that he chatted with me for this podcast episode – so I’m especially grateful for his time.
We talked about writing. His life and aspirations (apparently he had none whatsoever). Some days he’s the country’s very best writer. But for a great chunk of this podcast he preferred to talk about other writers – so we did that too.
I didn’t really know Steve ahead of this chat – we had met once, briefly, and exchanged a few messages. But that was it. This, however, is much more than just that. This is really our first proper meeting.
This is also episode 254 of Sweetman Podcast – my conversation with Steve Braunias.
