A milestone of sorts – this is episode 250 of Sweetman Podcast with support from our sponsors – T Leaf T and Yeastie Boys and thanks to you readers and listeners.
Now – as you probably know, as well as the usual platforms (this site, soundcloud, iTunes/Apple) you can now get to Sweetman Podcast on Spotify – follow it there and have it saved in your Spotify library.
This conversation is with Greg Smith – a shorter list would be what he hasn’t done, since that list would not include acting, filmmaking, DJing, glass-blowing, drug-taking and selling, stone-carving, mentoring, storytelling, voiceover work…
Greg is a force. And I first met this force online – we connected in the way people do, via the social media channels, and we have shared work with each other, sought feedback. We met in person late last year and had a coffee in Wellington one time when he was visiting, hatching the plan to eventually do a podcast. A few months later I found myself in Auckland with enough time to spare to capture this chat – so this was recorded in January of 2021.
We talked about Greg’s canny knack of falling into opportunities, of seizing life, of going where the weather suits his clothes. From selling drugs to working as an artist and then actor, a record deal with Flying Nun, a radio show beaming in all sorts of music for adventurous ears and time on stage and screen and behind the camera. Now he specialises in voice-work, you’ll hear why when you listen to our chat. And keep listening – at the end of this conversation one of Greg’s own stories is included, by which I mean he takes over the mic and tells us one of his personal yarns. It’s a ripper.

I loved talking to Greg. And I so I hope you enjoy listening to this.
