Sweetman Podcast # 217: Freya Daly Sadgrove

Welcome to episode 217 of Sweetman Podcast with support from our sponsors – T Leaf T and Yeastie Boys .

Now – as you probably know, as well as the usual platforms (this site, soundcloud, iTunes/Apple) you can now get to Sweetman Podcast on Spotify – follow it there and have it saved in your Spotify library.

This is the first brand new conversation of the post-Lockdown world. And it was to be the last one before we went into lockdown. Which is to say that poet and theatre maker Freya Daly Sadgrove was due to turn up at my house and have a chat about her brand new book Head Girl and many other things the day of, or the very day before the country went into lockdown.

I had never met Freya.

So we exchanged a few emails, postponing the chat to begin with, pondering briefly doing a Skype/Zoom call and then deciding to see each other on ‘the other side’ of lockdown.

Freya and I were both on the bill at a fundraiser for the Australian bushfires about five years ago back in January of this year.

And after seeing her perform and reading her book I was very keen to meet her and to chat poetry and life and many things in and around that.

So – lockdown over – she came around to the house and that’s what we – finally – did. This conversation begins with Freya reading from the book and the conversation is punctuated a couple of times with readings from the book.

It was my great pleasure to host this conversation and met Freya. I love her book and I hope you love this conversation and check out her work as a result.

It’s good to be back in the world of making fresh new podcasts from brand new conversations.

Here now is episode 217 of Sweetman Podcast – my conversation with Freya Daly Sadgrove.
