Now – as you probably know, as well as the usual platforms (this site, soundcloud, iTunes/Apple) you can now get to Sweetman Podcast on Spotify – follow it there and have it saved in your Spotify library.
This is the first episode of the podcast since the lockdown – the first in about 9 weeks; the longest time off in the life of Sweetman Podcast.
Nick Lowe is a legendary producer and singer/songwriter known for his own material and his contributions to the careers of many artists – two of his best known songs of course are (What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding which was originally recorded in the catalogue of his band Brinsley Schwartz but is remembered best for the version Lowe produced with Elvis Costello singing. And The Beast In Me was featured in the TV show The Sopranos, but was initially written for and recorded by Johnny Cash.
This phone interview with Lowe was ostensibly to promote his Auckland show but I ran out of time to write it up – so despite some chat about the shows I felt this was still worth sharing as a nice chat with a great musician. It’s also an easy way for me to ease back into the podcast world.
It’s been a long break and I do have some other conversations in the can waiting – and am out recording new material to bring to you but meanwhile I hope you enjoy this. And I hope all is as well in your world as can be.
It’s good to be back.
