Sweetman Podcast # 199: Dominic Hoey

Welcome to episode 199 of Sweetman Podcast with support from our sponsors – T Leaf T, Yeastie Boys and La Petite Chocolat.

Now – as you probably know, as well as the usual platforms (this site, soundcloud, iTunes/Apple) you can now get to Sweetman Podcast on Spotify – follow it there and have it saved in your Spotify library.

Episode 199 is a conversation with Dominic “Tourettes” Hoey. It was my first time meeting Dominic though I’ve followed his work – and his transition from rapper and spoken word artist to poet, writer and publisher (ditching the music) over the last decade. I’ve been a fan of his words both for the page and for the stage. And earlier this year I spoke with Hadassah Grace. Her book was the first to be published by Dominic’s press.

So it was a matter of time before finally getting to Dom. We had in fact corresponded around doing this earlier on and it never quite lined up.

Finally, we got there. And it was a great chat. You’ll hear about Hoey’s mental and physical health challenges, motivators for his writing in so many ways. You’ll hear some readings from his fantastic new book, I Thought We’d Be Famous (click there to read my review of it). And you’ll hear many things about poetry and spoken word and some stories of when he performed (spoken word and rap) under the name Tourettes.

I loved this conversation and I hope you do too.

Sweetman Podcast will continue through the holiday – episode 200 is a big milestone for the show next week. After that there’ll be eps 201 and 202 and so on…no break,, just keep the content rolling.

But for now enjoy this one. And Merry Christmas and season’s best to you and yours.

Here now is episode 199 of Sweetman Podcast – my chat with Dominic Hoey.
