Sweetman Podcast # 196: Victor Rodger

Welcome to episode 196 of Sweetman Podcast with support from our sponsors – T Leaf T, Yeastie Boys and La Petite Chocolat.

Now – as you probably know, as well as the usual platforms (this site, soundcloud, iTunes/Apple) you can now get to Sweetman Podcast on Spotify – follow it there and have it saved in your Spotify library.

Here’s a conversation I captured recently down at Circa Theatre with playwright Victor Rodger.

I had wanted to meet Victor and talk to him after seeing At The Wake last year. Around the time I saw that play I spoke with actor Lisa Harrow (she’s referenced in this conversation just as Victor was in the chat with her).

The timing lined up now to speak with Rodger since his latest play, Uma Lava is currently on at Circa Theatre.

We talked about the new play and his first work for theatre, Sons, now around 20 years old. We spoke, too of Black Faggot and several of his other plays. He has also spent time writing for TV and film – including a long stint as a writer on Shortland Street.

It was a great pleasure to meet with Victor and I was grateful for his time in the production-week in the lead up to the opening of Uma Lava. I also saw the play – in this conversation I’m referencing that I was about to see it. It’s very funny. I enjoyed it. Just as I hope you enjoy this conversation.

Here now is episode 196 of Sweetman Podcast – my chat with Victor Rodger.
