I recorded this one a couple of months ago – a chat I had with singer, DJ and percussionist Sandy Mill.
Sandy recently released her debut solo EP (on vinyl as well as on streaming platforms), A Piece of Me.
You’ve heard Sandy’s voice – even if you don’t know it. Find out everyone she’s worked with here.
Sandy’s been a crucial member of the SJD band – live and on record – she’s worked with just about everyone in New Zealand music in one way or another; is a DJ, a backing vocalist, percussionist…she’s hosted radio shows too.
And she has appeared either in the studio or on stages with some of music’s biggest names – as a working session singer in the UK she recorded with the likes of Placebo.
So Sandy and I talked about all of this. How she found her voice first as a singer, and now how she’s honing her voice as a writer.
I love Sandy’s voice – and her energy. I’ve met her a few times over the years and we’ve corresponded a bit. This was the first time we got to sit down for a really long chat about something that drives us both: music.
I hope you enjoy this conversation with me talking to one of New Zealand’s great musical players. She is both enhancement-talent and a star in her own right.
Here now is episode 140 of Sweetman Podcast – my chat with Sandy Mill.
