Anyone reading this will know I’m such a huge Suzanne Vega fan. So it’s huge news – to me anyway – that she is going to be playing two shows in New Zealand in August this year.
I’ve already booked tickets to see her play in Australia in late-July. I’ll return home with the chance to see her again.
This is good news too, as her shows in New Zealand are different to the Aussie tour. In Australia she’s playing songs from two of her albums, the 30th Anniversary and 25th anniversary of, respectively, Solitude Standing and 99.9F degrees.
In New Zealand she’ll be playing songs from across her catalogue.
She’ll play Auckland’s Bruce Mason Centre on Tuesday, August 7. And Wellington’s Opera House on Wednesday, August 8.
Big, big news for Vega fans. She has not been a regular visitor to these shores.
I still remember reading about her show here in the 1990s, Neil Finn popped up to join the encore. The reviewer made it sound like the greatest show. (I’m sure it was).
Ms. Vega is one of my all-time favourite songwriters. She’s in fine voice and her recent albums show the gifts are all still there.
So I’m sure these are going to be terrific shows too.
The best news!
