It’s certainly not a glamourous thing attending a Gerry and The Pacemakers gig in 2011 – in the review I mentioned the likelihood of their being more pacemakers in the audience than onstage, Gerry Marsden just tours with a pickup band – but I don’t care. I’ll say it here – just as I did in the review – it was a decent enough show. And sometimes more than that. I’d actually seen him before – and I enjoyed this gig more because there was an opening set by Herman’s Hermits and I thought they were really good actually.
I had interviewed Gerry on the phone before he got here too. A nice chap – and funny to get those connections. You get off the phone and think, wow, I just talked to someone who knew John Lennon – you know that sort of thing is kinda cool. For a second or two.
I have no idea why – instead of a ticket – I have a “lost ticket form”. Nor why I’ve kept it…
From memory this was my only way in – since the person on the ticket-booth hadn’t been left a ticket for me and couldn’t work out a way around it. Then he came up with this plan – issuing me a “lost ticket” form. He was thoroughly pleased with himself. Like he’d cracked the case. A super-sleuth. I do remember that.
Stubs is an occasional feature here at Off The Tracks – looking back through the ticket-stub box and remembering how the show went down.
