Over the last few years I’ve got back into basketball – at first casually, and then with a lot more interest – even buying a ball and going back to shooting hoops and obviously I’m currently bereft because there’s not only no live basketball to get to (or watch on TV) but also I’ve finished The Last Dance. (There are plenty more basketball doco in the sea – albeit none making waves quite that big eh…) This was going to be my year where I turned out to watch the Saints as often as I could, this was already the year that I started watching as many NBA games as I could – and now (for now at least) that’s all on the back-burner, like so many other things.
Last year I only went to a small handful of games but one of the best was this one in Napier. Best, because the whole extended clan went along and most of us enjoyed it too. I suggested it as some long-weekend filler-activity, half expecting it to get ignored or chuckled at and put on some mythical maybe-list but instead the uptake was swift and mostly enthusiastic. Good game too, great wee arena for it and a good fun family outing. Maybe – next year at the least – we’ll get another. Meanwhile, it’s back to my YouTube playlist of NBA docos and old matches and the Netflix cue still has a couple more decent-looking b-ball doco series’ to get into.
Stubs is an occasional feature here at Off The Tracks – looking back through the ticket-stub box and remembering how the show went down.
