Stubs: # 208 – Calexico, Wellington, 2016

calI blamed my first experience with Calexico live on it being Art Festival season, an uninspired set, a jewellery-rattling audience, I dunno – I was just underwhelmed…probably me going to 18 shows in about 14 days didn’t help. They had been one of my favourite bands and as a result of that gig they weren’t.

But then I saw them again a few years on, not that much of a fan and was won over, a fan all over again.

So third time’s a charm right? It was Arts Festival time once again, but the crowd was hot – way into it, great vibe, and a great-great set.

I wrote it up. Loved it. Might have been the best of the three. Which hardly ever happens.
CAkStubs is an occasional feature here at Off The Tracks – looking back through the ticket-stub box and remembering how the show went down.
