I think back now and perhaps I liked this show a bit more than I let on at the time. Well, no maybe that’s not quite it, maybe I explained myself and the show just fine at the time. But I catch myself thinking about this show – Vangelis’ music from the film Blade Runner performed live by a full orchestra (replete with guest singers, analogue synths, and old typewriter, the works…) – and just being pleased I was there; pleased I got to see it.
It was the end of a huge weekend – and a lot of shows and a lot of time away from my young son – and a lot of socialising – and a lot of drinking – and a lot of writing things up quick as I could in a hotel room (and some guy had just given my Bobby Womack’s water bottle and urged me not to drink from it) so there was certainly a sense of feeling jaded, shattered actually, as I took in this show. I remember thinking it was the best, most calming type of music and soundscape for the situation.
Stubs is an occasional feature here at Off The Tracks – looking back through the ticket-stub box and remembering how the show went down.
