Look at the state of it – you could hardly call that a ticket/stub – it’s the folder a ticket goes in; looks like they lost them…anyway, no matter, usually when I get a comp it’s just a name on a doorlist, a stamp on the hand. But this is the first time I’ve been given a folder with the seat numbers and my name written on it…
Ah, this was a fantastic concert. I was so excited to finally get to see Kronos Quartet – I guess there had been a couple of opportunities in my lifetime (of living in Wellington) but I had missed out, or they had clashed with other gigs (Arts Festivals’ll do that for ya…) so this was my chance. And I wasn’t missing it.
I don’t know when I first started listening to them or how I came to know of them. Well, I know I’d heard of them first, some reputation of course. And I know that their playing on the score for Requiem for a Dream was the thing that fully sold me, caught me up; made me a card-carrying member for life. But I’d heard things before that. Had a couple of albums…been slowly building up a collection ever since.
