I’ve been having a chat on RNZ once a month or so for a few years now – as part of Afternoons with Jesse Mulligan. But the other week I was invited to speak on the summer show – Karyn Hay & Friends. Karyn is a broadcasting legend – and so it was a thrill to speak with her and to be asked onto the show.
The format was much the same – pick a couple of albums and talk about them. I chose my album of the year so far, The Imperial by The Delines. And one of several great new albums across the last two years by a living legend, The Prophet Speaks by Van Morrison.
We had a brief chat about the Nick Cave show too.
And then played the songs and talked about the albums.
You can hear the songs and chat here.
I’ve also written about the Delines here and the Van Morrison album here.
