RNZ Reviews: July 2021

Once a month or so I have a chat on RNZ on their Afternoons show with Jesse Mulligan. I’ve been doing it for about five years now. Most months. This was my first time in for 2021.

This month I talked about two records from artists that have written their own songs but were here paying tribute to one other living songwriter. Tribute albums – but with the songs rearranged to suit the style of the new singer.

First up was Toner by PVA and I played the song Sleek Form.

Next up was the new album by Lucy Dacus, Home Video and I played the opening track, Hot and Heavy.

As always you can read my thoughts on the PVA ep here and the Lucy Dacus album here.
