Once a month or so I have a chat on RNZ on their Afternoons show with Jesse Mulligan. I’ve been doing it for about five years now. Most months. This was my first time in for 2021.
This month I talked about two records made under lockdown restrictions.
First up was the latest by Tindersticks and I played their cover version of Neil Young’s A Man Needs A Maid.
Then it was to Virtual Shadow Ensemble a project made in NZ under level 4 restrictions, the musicians and poets sending their tracks in to be assembled as a whole. I played the song New Moon (Whiro).
As always you can read my full thoughts on each album with reviews here of Distractions by Tindersticks and KEEP YOUR DISTANCE! by Virtual Shadow Ensemble.
