RNZ Feature: Whistling

I’m usually on RNZ once a month to have a chat about some new albums. But the other day I got the call up to present a Music Feature for the Afternoons show.

This topic was Whistling – songs with whistling; what is it about whistling in a song? Is it happy, sad, both? Is it joyous and infectious to hear or noxious, frustrating? Well, again, it can be both. I picked a range of songs by a range of artists, we played through some clips and talking about whistling. It was good fun.

Previously I’ve been invited up to speak where the topic was Music Feuds.

So maybe I’ll get another chance, down the line, to smack my lips together and blow – talking about whistling or anything else. There’s so much more that can be said on this topic of course – but here’s what I said.
