RNZ Feature: The Legacy of the Carpenters

About once a month or so I have a long chat on RNZ about a particular music or a theme – for their regular Tuesday music features.

I’ve long been a fan of the music of the Carpenters and wanted to play some of my favourites, some of the key examples of Karen’s great singing and Richard’s brilliant song selecting and arranging. So we played a few favourites and I had a chat about some of what I loved about the Carpenters. I’m interested in the backstory, the soap-opera, the tension but I also love the best of their music and wanted that to tell part of the story.

If you missed it you can listen to the full chat right here. And see below (or click here) for just the songs I played and in the order I played them).

And click here to check out any of the past features I’ve done for RNZ.
