I’m usually on RNZ once a month to have a chat about some new albums. But the other day I got the call up to present a Music Feature for the Afternoons show.
The topic was Music Feuds – and so I discussed The Beatles/Yoko Ono, Simon & Garfunkel, Marvin Gaye’s divorce from Anna Gordy Gaye and the resulting “break-up” album, the Gallagher Brothers and Prince’s battles against Warner Brothers.
It was a fun romp through a few different styles of feuding – touching on fan and media involvement/creation, sibling rivalry, divorce, record company politics and general road-weariness.
There’s so much more that can be said on this topic of course – but here’s what I said.
It was fun to have this chat. I hope to do it again on another topic sometime soon.
