RNZ Feature: Fleetwood Mac

I’m usually on RNZ once a month to have a chat about some new albums. But now and then I present features on the show too.

Last year I had nearly an hour to explore the music of George Harrison.

I followed that up with a chat about Ringo Starr and played some of his best Beatles drum bits and a few of his solo singing hits. That was fun too.R

But then, I had the chance to talk about Prince. What to say about one of my favourite artists of all time? In just 40 minutes. I could talk for, erm, 17 Days about Prince. So I decided to look at some of the side-projects, collaborations and songs he’s written for other people.

And then it was to covers you didn’t know were covers.

Then a big chat about Dolly Parton. And just this week, and most recently, I was asked to put together a list of some songs that were banned from radio. So we talked about those tunes and played them…

So on it goes. And the most recent has been a chat about Fleetwood Mac. I love Fleetwood Mac. All versions. I even wrote a poem about them. A poem! Actually there’s loads of mentions of Mac here at Off The Tracks.

And click here to listen to me talking about them on RNZ. We play some songs and talk through the various histories of the band. All good fun. All aimed ahead of their upcoming NZ tour. Their first with Neil Finn in the fold!
