I’m usually on RNZ once a month to have a chat about some new albums and I also do a bunch of Music Features. And last Christmas season I was invited onto one of the holiday shows to talk about Damon Albarn and play some of his music.
When I was asked to come up with something for this season I knew straight away that I wanted to talk about Dave Dobbyn – specifically his great trilogy of albums, Lament For The Numb (1993), Twist (1994) and The Islander (1998).
I spoke with Lynn Freeman. A safer pair of hands you could not find. She is one of this country’s best and most versatile broadcasters.
We had a really nice chat about Dobbyn and his work and played two tracks from each of the albums. If you missed it – you can click here to check it out.
This was my final radio appearance for 2019.
