April means Record Store Day and this year it’s Saturday, April 16. Our friends at Southbound Records always put on a great day, they believe in first-come-first-served for the special RSD releases and will have over 250 exclusive on-the-day/for-the-day titles in-store. They’ll also have coffee and baking for customers – with doors open from 9.00am.
The afternoon will see live performances from Tami Neilson, The Leers and Delaney Davidson.
Davidson has a brand new tour documentary and a limited edition vinyl release to showcase, both are called “Devil In The Parlour”. The record is a live-in-the-studio set of tunes recorded in America and limited to just 300 copies, hand screen-printed cover designed and printed by Delaney himself, liner notes by the legendary Bruce Russell (The Dead C). Here’s the album teaser, and film trailer. There’ll be a screening of the documentary.
On the day Southbound is offering some special deals too – 25% of all second-hand vinyl, automatic 10% of all product – including new vinyl, sale CDs, music books and DVDs. They’ll have signed copies of Dave Dobbyn’s Harmony House on vinyl and, while stocks last, there are free totes bags for anyone that spends over $50. Check out the store’s Facebook page to stay up to date. (Performance times will be announced on the page).
