Live At Rockapalast 1983
Something of a holy grail for Public Image fans, this live outing from 1983 features the band between albums – even performing a rare version of Anarchy In The UK from that other band John Lydon used to front (The Sex Pistols).
PiL has always been about Lydon first and foremost, his shrieking non-singing and the songs that cross post-punk and new-wave boundaries, one part pop-song, one part industrial music template.
Here Lydon has a makeshift backing band but he’s ably supported. And it all goes to serve the myth that if Lydon is on board and in form than it is Public Image. In that sense this classic bootleg sees official release just in time; the band’s first studio album in 20 years is due to arrive this year.
