Paula Green’s Poetry Shelf: Thirteen Poems About Song

New Zealand’s Patron Saint to Poetry – Paula Green – does many great things with, and on, her Poetry Shelf, but over winter this year she’s been posting a different set of ‘Theme’ poems by varioius poets. Each Friday a new theme. I’ve loved them, have shared them all.

And this week I was one of the poets – my poem ‘Trigger’ (named after Willie Nelson’s guitar and featuring Willie and Johnny Cash) was one of the poems Paula selected for her Thirteen Poems About Song.

A huge honour.

Particularly given the company I’m keeping there: Emma Barnes, Sarah Jane Barnett, Kay McKenzie Cooke, Cadence Chung, Lynley Edmeades, David Eggleton, Rata Gordon, Lily Holloway, Pippi Jean, Harry Ricketts, Apirana Taylor and Catherine Trundle.

Check out the poems – and the poets. And be sure to check out the other entries in the series:
Twelve poems about ice

Ten poems about dreaming

Eleven poems about the moon

Twelve poems about knitting

Ten poems about water

Twelve poems about faraway

Fourteen poems about walking

Twelve poems about food

Thirteen poems about home

Ten poems about edge

Eleven poems about breakfast

Twelve poems about kindness

Thirteen poems about light
