Combining local, national and international names the festival’s stages for music will include one-off shows at the MFC and Opera House as well as special two and three night stands at the Festival Club. Some nights at the Festival Club you’ll get a special guest or two. It’s also a chance to see some great performances up close, intimate. One off pairings, unique shows…

Luke Buda and Sam Scott of The Phoenix Foundation will be playing stripped back versions of their songs alongside Lawrence Arabia. Nathan Haines and Jonathan Crayford will join forces for a collaborative re-working of the Adagio form through the works of Bach, Morricone, Stravinsky and more.

The original Star Wars – Star Wars IV: A New Hope – will be screened with its Oscar-winning soundtrack performed live by The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.download

There will be some FREE events too including artist talks – Jordi Savall a master of ‘early music’ will be another highlight and there’s a free pre-show talk before his performance of time-travelling, multi-culture spanning music.

Be sure to comb the programme there are so many highlights and there are theatre, jazz, dance and classical shows as well as popular music gigs.
