And while that’s true for Off The Tracks too – the real reason I’m (finally) doing away with comments here on the actual posts (you’ll know to have at it underneath as part of any Facebook feed should you want to) is because of the service I was using.
DISQUS which, apparently “helps publishers increase engagement and build loyal audiences” has started placing third-party spammy clickbait sponsored-post ‘ads’ at the bottom of my posts. They did this without my consent, and without any options presented. I find out – through my own digging only – that I can pay to upgrade and then remove the ads. I have to engage their helpdesk.
They need to make money – but the way they’re going about it, using my work and anyone else that uses their service, without giving us any information, let alone a cut, is vile.
This sort of thing happens a lot now I guess. But it’s rotten.
Anyway, a courtesy post to let you know that this is happening. No more comments on posts here. Soon. Very soon.
But in the interests of being open to criticism and hoping to still create conversations you can contact me via the site, you can post away on social media, share, reply, etc.
I just don’t want DISQUS in my life anymore. Discuss. Or, you know, don’t…
But no more of this Find Out What __________ Looks Like Now or 10 Cancer Symptoms You’re Missing. Garbage. And they’re pricks for just setting it up on the site.
So carry on the discussion at Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, anywhere but here…
