It’s not always the best day in the world to be a Neil Young fan – some albums come with a huge clang – but today must count as one of the better days. The much-teased Neil Young Archives exists now, for free, online. Go there and search – and hear – over 50 years of music, all chronologically listed. There’s a tease that some of those unreleased albums are to come (they’re listed, but you can’t hear anything yet).
There’s days, months, years of material – all the Young-related books and films have listings too. It’s a living document, one-stop-shop – he’s live-streaming a show, there’s a hint that there’ll be more of that to come.
Will it end up locked under a pay-wall of a sort for – at least – the exclusive, special material? Probably.
