It was a really great gig by Killing Joke on Friday. The original line-up, well most of them – the drummer was a sub for the last few shows. Wellington’s gig at Bodega was a ripper, the final show of the tour.
Over at the merch table they were selling DVDs and CDs and posters and original artworks by Youth. Paintings he’d ripped out – quickly – on cheap canvas squares. But, cool idea I thought. And cheap too. $10 and you own an artwork by Youth. That’s pretty cool if you like the band – and I do. And I love a lot of Youth’s (other) contributions to music – particularly his partnership with Paul McCartney, The Fireman.
Apparently they’d run out of merch, being the last show of the tour – so were selling what they could, bootleg CDs and DVDs were all signed by the band ahead of time – and these paintings by Youth. Cool idea I thought. I always go check out the merchandise at a gig, I hardly ever buy anything.
Friday night I walked about with a painting by Youth. It’s called Not Born Again. I like it.
