I’ve been listening to an advance-copy of the upcoming album release from Mountaineater. It’s superb – I’ve been gushing about it a wee bit over on the Blog On The Tracks Facebook page; to me it feels inspired, at least in part, by the early albums from The Cure. But in saying that I was listening to this at a time when I was also preparing for my Cure DJ set and playing loads of albums by The Cure. Still, I got the sense that Pornography in particular had some influence on this record – but it’s louder, and, well, a post-rock version of Pornography rather than anything goth-rock.
But it’s good. Really good. That’s what I wanted to say. And then of course it turns out now that you can stream the album this week.
So click on that link and check out the six tracks of “Gutterball” yourself. It’s well worth your time. (You’ll also see the tour dates for Akld/Wgtn/ChCh/Dndn).
The album is released October 11.
