Litcrawl is back for 2018 – Wellington’s coolest little literary festival is now five. This year there’ll be the classic Saturday night crawl and the full program is extended out to included events over four days rather than the usual two-to-three…
Journalists, poets, songwriters, novelists, memoirists, essayists, cartoonists, storytellers…almost any and all type of writer and writing will be on display.
The program was launched late last week. I was there. I was even tricked into getting a photo with the mayor. No huge issue there. I like the mayor. I like photos a bit less. But hey. All okay when it’s for a good cause, right?
I’m even in an event this year. In previous years I’ve been an enthusiastic cheerleader for the event, I’ve attended Lit Crawl, I’ve introduced speakers, last year I chaired a conversation (and cheered it too!) about Bob Dylan.
This year I’ll actually be a performer. A reader. A writer.
I am packing myself. I am excited. I am nervous. I will need words. I will get some as soon as I can find them. And then I will find myself on stage with the wonderful and talented Pip Adam and Tayi Tibble and drag performers Bunny Holiday, Harlie Lux and True d’Heaux. The category is “Literary Realness”. The even is called “Lit-Sync For Your Life”. More on that soon. And, just by the way, oh my! I cannot wait.
Meanwhile so many (other) things to crawl to. You can never get to it all. We’re so lucky to be spoiled for choice with Litcrawl.
