Florence + The Machine: How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful

FloreceFlorence + The Machine

How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful

Universal Records

THE NEW FLORENCE + THE MACHINE ALBUM IS BIG! NOT SURE IT’S REALLY BLUE, NOR BEAUTIFUL DESPITE ITS TITLE – BUT IT IS BETTER THAN THAT SECOND ALBUM, OR THE UNPLUGGED ALBUM, IT JUST SEEMS TOO LONG SINCE THAT DEBUT, AND WHERE THAT HAD NUANCE – KINDA – OR AT LEAST THE, ER, BREATHTAKING BETWEEN TWO LUNGS THIS JUST HAS BIG, BIG SONGS. NOT MUCH IN THE WAY OF KATE BUSH-ish 80s ETHEREALITY BUT HEAPS OF GRUNT. BIG, BIG SONGS FOR YOU BOYS AND GIRLS – A BIG-VOICED LASS JUST GOING FOR IT, AND THEN REIGNING IT ALL IN RIGHT NEAR THE END (st. jude) BEFORE THE BIG BOOM-CRASH CRESCENDO TO END-O BECAUSE THAT’LL TEACH YA!
