Another 50 or so really great albums or EPs in September although this time, looking back through them, it seems split between reissues/rarities and quite obscure/lesser-known new artists. Well, there were also one or two nice surprises (the self-titled Ryan Adams album, a real return to form there I reckon). All in all a good month, a quite wide range of music too, more so than some other months…a bit of hip-hop in there, some jangle, some solo acts, some jazz, noise and then all points in between, or almost all. And that’s how I like it.
Click on this link to be taken to a summary of all the best reviews I wrote for the month of August, 2014. By best I mean not just positive but the rave reviews, the albums I reckon are worth hearing; worth having.
You’ll find reissues, compilations, EPs and live albums – as well as full-length studio releases. Most of the material here was released in 2014 but in some cases it was released in 2013 and only made it to me this year – or I only (finally) got to it this year.
