I am not writing as many album reviews as I used to – 2013, 2014, 2015 and even 2016 were all very big years for album-review writing for me. I wrote hundreds. Sometimes 40 or 50 a month.
For many reasons I’m not doing anywhere near that now – I have a weekly podcast I’m focusing on, and I don’t think people care as much about album reviews; they say that anyway. I know I have some loyal readers that appreciate my take. So I’m still putting up album reviews, writing about my reaction to albums…but sometimes I don’t have anything to say, good or bad, I just cannot be bothered. Doesn’t mean there’s no good music, quite the opposite really – there’s too much for any one person to try to get their head around, which of course is part of the point of why reviews should still matter. A guide. A hint. A prompt. A push in a particular direction, or toward particular directions…
Anyway, rather than monthly digests I’ve moved to quarterly, and rather than separate out only the positive reviews I’m going to include them all (I think there are mostly all positive anyway, but ask someone else and they might have a different take).
So here is a list of all of the album reviews on Off The Tracks in the third quarter of 2017. It will give you a chance to go back through and find things you might have missed.
Here’s the half-way mark’s list of reviews.
And here’s the first quarter’s list.
The digest-links provide links to all of the individual reviews.
Happy reading…and, fingers crossed, Happy Listening!
