Comedy VS Poetry FACE/OFF: NZ FRINGE

I’m in a Fringe Festival show this year. I’m one of the performers in this amazing concept  Poetry vs Stand-Up Comedy. I put the word poetry first because I’ll be one of the poets. Producers Dave Adams and Creatif Kate (aka Kate Spencer) will be MCing a set of shows across March 3-9 where three poets will go up against three comedians with a six-minute set of material each in the battle to find the funniest.

Poetry is no laughing matter. But it can be! And for this set of shows the poets will be bringing the funny. Ideally, anyway. The comedians will be hitting their jokes a.s.a.f.p.
And the audience will be entertained either way – from both sides. And all night!

Across the week at The Fringe Bar in Wellington the comedians will include: Neil Thornton,  Li’i Alaimoana, Sannon Basso Gaule, Sameena Zehra, Miranda Clement, Sowmya Hiremath, Nathan Bond, Carrie Buckmaster, Sarah Rose Courtenay, Susan Williams, Advait Kirtikar, Severin Gourley, Richard Lemmens and Gavin Hews.

The poets will be:  2018 NZ Slam champion Jordan Hamel, two-time Wellington slam champ Tarns Hood, 2019 Slam runner up Rose Northey, Kate Spencer, Alayne Dick, Amy Grace Laura, Emma Sidnam, Emilie Hope, Dani Yourukova, and, um, me.

Here’s the Facebook event page.

Pick your night. Or come along each and every night – different line-up across the week. Three poets, three comics, all laughs.
