I love books. I’ve published two (and two e-books as well). I might publish more. And reading has been part of my life since I can remember. I read poetry and graphic novels, non-fiction – including bios and essays and memoir – and of course novels. There are no rules for me with reading – nothing is off the table. There are some genres I’m not big on but then I find that a great, great book might pop up in an area I wouldn’t normally go to. Tastes change. I used to read a lot of sports biographies, now not so much – but I’ll still go back there to find something good now and then.
It’s time for me to start a new series here at Off The Tracks – since I finished The Vinyl Countdown and I’ve been thinking about this one for a while. I already have Authors I Admire – where I look at some favourite writers; authors that have made a massive impact on my life with several of their books being part of my upbringing. But what about the books that hit the mark. And maybe it’s just a one-off. Maybe you never return to the author or they never published again. It’s about age and stage and the timing of it. Some books hit you hard because you found them at the right time. Or they found you.
I instantly think of so many – and I’d like to write some posts about them. Books I read 10 and 20 and 30 years ago.
So that’s the point of this new series. With posts starting very soon. I hope you’ll enjoy…
Reading is the best!
Books That Blew My Mind is an occasional series here at Off The Tracks – thinking back on great books that I loved (and still love); books that found me at just the right time.
