Adam Cohen: Like A Man

Like A Man

Shock

“Yeah, my dad suggested I give it a go, follow on in the family business.”

What’s your father’s name?

“Leonard”.

Leonard? As in…

“Yes, I believe you lot called him Laughing Len for a while there”.

Wow. So, no other jobs crossed your mind?

“Well, not until after the release of my first album back in the late 1990s”.

Well, of course.

“But I’m back, have been for a while. I’ll always have that semi-colon after my job title: Canadian musician; son of Leonard Cohen. I’ve decided to fully embrace that.”

You sound an awful lot like him. More so this time than ever before.

“Yes, I even had to check and see if dad had written any of these songs already.”

And, had he?

“Um, well, we’re really not sure. We’re going with Cohen-esque as a tagline”.

What about Songs From A Son?

“Well, er, my dad’s popular again, right?”

Yes, he puts on a good show.

“I tried really hard to sound like myself you know. It’s not really my fault I sound like him; well, it’s just as much his fault isn’t it?”

I can imagine Leonard Cohen would sit and listen to this.

“And he’d probably dig it, right?”

Probably.
