Sunday December 13, 2pm at Book Haven in Newtown – there will be a A Panoply of Poets. Poets of all ages and stages. Poets reading – from their recently published collections. Poets reading poems they’ve just written that week even!
Book Haven is one of Wellington’s many wonderful bookstores – and the readings they host are a lot of fun. This one will feature Wellington-based poets Mary McCallum, Nicola Easthope, Richard Langston, Sam Duckor-Jones, Rachel McAlpine, Michael Fitzsimons and Maggie Rainey-Smith. I’ll be reading too. And it will be the live debut of my son, Oscar Sweetman. He’s just turned 9! He’ll be reading a couple of his brand new poems.
The rest of us will be reading from published collections – we’ll be sharing words from books old and new. We’ll be ranging in age from 9 to 80. We’ll be telling stories and offering observations, there’ll be rhymes – some of the time. There might even be a Christmas poem. Or two.
Next Sunday, December 13. At Book Haven, 160 Riddiford St, Newtown, Wellington.
Here’s the official Facebook invite. Or see the poster below for all the necessary details.
We’d love to see
