Quincy Jones, The Italian Job [OST] (1969)
More and more I’m thinking, these days, about Quincy Jones and his towering and diverse body of work – as producer, player, arranger, composer, bandleader and soloist…I’m also getting hooked on classic movie soundtracks – to be clear this is the original version of the film’s score. I do like the original film – it’s not an all-time favourite of mine, but I like it. And when I watched it I loved the music – as a key part of the film. That Matt Monro song is a wee gem but it’s the instrumental (score) pieces that I really love. This is a record I’ve been after a while, have picked it up, put it down, considered it regularly. Finally I took the plunge, just recently, and it was worth it. A wee gem.
