Harry Secombe, This Is My Song (1967)
It was very strange to hear this – I know of Harry Secombe the comedian – part of the Goons, I know he was a singer too, an all-around entertainer, comedian with extras…but I find his voice hard to enjoy, hard to grab. It’s that very weird thing where I wanted to hear this – I have this because it was handed down to me, but I’m a sucker for this sort of stuff; a nostalgia that can’t correctly belong to me – but still I want to know. A tough listen this – and yet I can’t quite see myself ever parting with it…this is not my jam, at all, and yet This Is My Song. Go figure?!
