Smokey Robinson is a great songwriter and vocalist. That’s a given. But you might not know that if you listened to most of this record – beyond the title track. I always liked the title track, that’s why I bought this. That and the fact that it was $2. And James Gadson features on one track (and he’s always awesome). Okay, so those are the reasons. It certainly wasn’t because of Food For Thought and any of the other cod-reggae and faux-disco that takes up space here. Play this album and you’ll be sent back to hearing Smokey at his best – running to find those early masterpieces. And hey, that ain’t no bad thing, right?
