Faithless, Reverence (1996)
Funny what you’ll hang on to for – well – as we always say nostalgia. I bought this when it was first released, my introduction to Faithless, a whim really. I liked it – because it was different to anything else in my collection and at the time it was one of very few brand new LPs. My whole collection, starting out, was second-handers, thrift-store finds and pass-me-downs. And I still go digging in junk stores and still get given leftovers but maybe I held onto this record all this time because it was the first – or at least one of the very first – brand new LPs I bought. I saw Faithless live when they came to town about a decade on from this and it was a pretty good show actually (I was never a fan as such but they had the odd moment). Anyway, gave this a whirl last night and fuck those mid-90s trance-lite vamps don’t half sound shockingly earnest and, well, atrocious.
Sample Track: Insomnia
